Bertha M. LeMay

Bertha M. (Leonard) LeMay of Enfield entered into eternal life at the age of 80 on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, with loved ones at her side at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late Robert G. LeMay. Bertha was born on June 4, 1933, in Bronx, N.Y., having resided in Enfield for the past 50 years and Chicopee, Mass., before that. After raising her children, she worked as a crossing guard for the town of Enfield for over 20 years. Bertha was a communicant of St. Martha's Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed doing crafts and ceramics, crocheting, cooking, and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Bertha is survived by a son, Robert K. LeMay and his wife, Laura, of Enfield; a son, Brian G. LeMay and his wife, Diana, of Enfield; and a son-in-law, Scott A. Burgoyne; her beloved grandchildren, Steven LeMay and his wife, Laura, Matthew LeMay, and Greg-ory LeMay. Bertha is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth Leonard and wife, Ellamae, Barbara Warren, Claire Carriveau and husband, Bob, Thomas Leonard and wife, Fran, and Patricia Russo and husband, Antonino; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter, Susan M. Burgoyne, a brother, Joseph Leonard, and a sister, Theresa Tougas.

Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Sunday, July 21, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

The funeral procession will form at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the funeral home to St. Martha Church for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, Mass.
