She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Hartford, and was the only daughter of the late Domenico and Carmella (Maulucci) Palumbo. Brigita was a member of the Sun Valley Beach Club for many years. She retired from People's Bank. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cards, cross stitch, and embroidery. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed spending time with her large, active, and close family.

She is survived by her children, Jean R. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Irene Palumbo, Carol Palumbo, Doris Nordstrom, and her husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Wilfred Boucher, and his wife, Albina; and many dear nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Jean, she was predeceased by her brother, Umberto Palumbo; her brother, Domenico Palumbo; her sister-in-law, Connie Palumbo; and her companion of many years, Ross Brodeur. Our family would also like to acknowledge her friends from Sun Valley Beach Club, her devoted neighbors, Sylvia and Norman Johnson, Jeannine, Lorrie, and Henry; her longtime hairdresser and friend, Terry Tantillo; and her caregiver, Christine Walker from Helping Hands Homecare.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 14, 2013, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville.
