Bronislaus Sycz Obituary

Bronislaus "Bill" Sycz, 84, beloved husband of 43 years to the late Pauline Sycz of Ellington, peacefully passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Fox Hill Nursing Center in Vernon with his loving daughters by his side.

Son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Zuzan) Sycz, Bill was born and raised in Hartford where he attended SS Cyril and Methodius Church and School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in 1991 retired from Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford as a supervisor. Bill enjoyed bowling, visiting the casinos of Atlantic City, N.J., with his family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.

His memory is forever cherished by two daughters, Rosanne Sycz and Danny O'Donnell and Barbara Beebe, and her husband, Danny, both of Ellington; two sisters, Frances Sycz and Sophie Krupa, both of Vernon; a brother, Walter Sycz of Newington; three cherished grandchildren, Stephen Updike of Vernon, Michelle Beebe, and Lance Zdanis of Ellington, and Kathryn Updike of Ellington; and a precious infant great-grandson, Jacoby. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four siblings, Veronica Sycz, Helen Surdyka, Stanley Sycz, and Stella Sycz.

Family and friends may gather Saturday at 9 a.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon, with a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville. Burial with military honors will immediately follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville.

Family and friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed caring for him. He never wanted for anything accept his lotion to his feet and his chapstick. Bill was a very sweet man. My thoughts are with all of you.
