Catherine J. Fecteau, 91, of East Windsor, known fondly as "Aunt Kay" by many, passed peacefully away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.
Her life was filled with zest and all adventures that life presented. She never held back her feelings. She was born in Broad Brook on June 15, 1922.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Francis Fecteau, 17 years ago; and her loving son, Richard Tarasavitch, 11 years ago. She also was predeceased by five brothers, Paul Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Martin Johnson, Raymond Johnson; and one sister, Susan Groves.
Aunt Kay worked at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford as a crib leader, retiring after 30 years of service after which Francis and Kay moved from Tromley Road, East Windsor, to their retirement home in South Reading, Vt. They lived there for 20 years before Kay returned to Connecticut after losing her husband. Her love of Vermont, gardening and fishing was enjoyed for many years with her beloved husband. The bountiful vegetable gardens and canning enabled them to endure the long Vermont winters. She made the best bread and butter pickles! She had many beautiful flower gardens filled with all kinds of different flowers all around their home. They cherished their membership at Brownsville United Methodist Community Church located in West Windsor, Vt., where they were both very active members.
Aunt Kay is survived by her last remaining sibling, her sister Margaret and John Scully of East Windsor; her godchild, Linda Stevens of Enfield and her children, Joe and Debbie of Stafford Springs, Rita and Rebecca of North Grafton, Mass.; nephew, Michael and Carolyn Scully of Broad Brook, and their children, Michael and Gina of Ellington, Megan and Josh of Stafford Springs, Patrick of Ellington, Maureen and Caleb of Tolland; nephew, William and Robyn Scully of Enfield, and their children, John Paul and Taralyn; and nephew, Robert and Denise Scully of West Hartford, and their children, Bob and Kristina of Windsor Locks and Jena of Enfield. Aunt Kay is also a "Great-Great" Aunt Kay to Brooke and Aubrey.
