Dorothy-Anne Morach Obituary

Dorothy-Anne (Witkowski) Morach, 72, of Vernon passed away suddenly on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsa (Anderson) Witkowski, she grew up and lived in Farmington and West Hartford before moving to Vernon 12 years ago. She was a graduate of Conard High School in West Hartford, Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., and the University of Hartford. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy-Anne was the office manager for the National Welding & Manufacturing Co. in Newington for several years. She never allowed her physical limitations to prevent her from living life to the fullest. Her smile and laughter will be missed almost as much as the selfless support she provided to her family and friends. She loved gardening, books, movies, playing bridge, and travel. When her daughters were young, she worked full-time, yet still found the time to serve as PTO president and Sunday school teacher. Later in life, she continued to volunteer as a reading tutor for the Vernon Reads volunteer reader program through the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program and the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.

She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth-Anne Cassano and her husband, Victor, of Canton, Jennifer-Anne DiTommaso and her husband, Daniel, of Vernon, and Barbara-Anne Morach of Glastonbury; her grandson, Lucas DiTommaso; a brother, Joseph Wei of Farmington; and aunts, cousins, and extended family in Sweden.

Her family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home beginning at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.

To Dorothy-Anne's family,
I can't even express how sad I am at the loss of my dear friend. We were childhood friends and reconnected a few years ago. We enjoyed our lunches at IHOP and Olive Garden, we talked non stop. We had so much to catch up on. Our youthful years were full of fun, trips out to the cottage at Bantam Lake, listening to Dorothy-Anne practice her piano and Accordion and just being silly together. We loved gardening so we talked about growing our cuc's and tomato's non stop. I'm so happy that I was there to share in her 70th birthday. Life will never be the same without her. I loved her very much. My prayers are with all of you for peace and comfort. The world is a darker place today because a light went out. Love to you all.
