Eugene Mittica Obituary

Eugene "Gene" W. Mittica, 79, of Enfield, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, after a brief illness, at his home with his loving family around him.

Gene was the beloved husband of the late Palma M. (Mastrodonato) Mittica, the light of his life and soul mate, who died July 30, 2013. Everyone who knew Gene knew that his family meant everything to him. Born April 25, 1934, in Hartford, Gene was the son of the late Raphael and Olga (Companaro) Mittica. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and prior to his retirement was a truck driver with Teamsters Union 671 for over 30 years. Gene enjoyed going to the casino, spending time with his family and friends, especially Mike and Barbara Filosa. He also had many wonderful mornings with the crew at Dunkin' Donuts on Hazard Avenue. Gene loved going with Palma to Figaro's Restaurant in Enfield. He was an avid San Francisco 49er, New York Yankee, and UConn Husky fan. He enjoyed going to the shore every Fourth of July and loved the firework shows.

Gene is survived by his children; Rosemarie Spak of Burlington and her husband, Dan, along with their children Jason Lomnicky and his wife, Amy, and William Spak; John Mittica of Farmington and his wife, Teresa, and their children John Mittica Jr. and Christopher Zalewski; James Perrone of Berlin and his wife, Stacy, and their children Nicholas, Angelique, and Alexandria; Gina Benea of Windsor Locks and her husband, Lewis, and their children Daniella, Francesca, Antonio, and Gabriella and her fiancé, Brandon LeBlanc; and Jacquelyn Bosco of Enfield and her husband, Joey, with their children Jacquelyn, Jamie Jo, Jessica and fiancé, Ben Hebert; and great-granddaughter Charlotte Hebert. He is also survived by his stepchildren and their families; Anthony Quattrocchi, Paula Quattrocchi, and Palma Lavigne; and many nieces and nephews whom he adored. Gene was predeceased by his first wife, Jacquelyn A. Maher, and his brothers James and Peter Mittica.

Gene's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Lisa Spencer for the extraordinary care she gave him.

Gene's family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

Family and friends will gather a 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Browne Memorial Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church, Enfield, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal with military honors will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery.
