Genevieve Malec Obituary

Genevieve (Ginocchio) Malec, wife of the late Victor Malec, daughter of the late William and Ursula Ginocchio, and twin sister of the late Ursula Ginocchio, returned to her maker on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

She was very active in Veterans Affairs. She was a past president and life member of the local Smalley Brothers Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 6123, and a state president of the Department of Connecticut V.F.W. At the Veterans National Convention held in Dallas, Texas, she was named president of the year, a high honor to attain, and had the honor of being congratulated by the actor John Wayne, who was a guest of honor and speaker at the affair. She organized and conducted the first Red Cross Blood Mobile held at the Congregational Church in Windsor Locks. She was a life member of St. Francis Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She was an officer and member of the Senior Club of Windsor Locks.

She is survived by her two children, the best in the world, whom she loved dearly, a daughter, Jayna Marie and her husband, Wayne Jutras, of Windsor Locks; and her son, William Malec and his wife, Lynn, of Suffield. She was thankful to God for having the greatest son-in-law and daughter-in-law. She will be greatly missed by her precious grandchildren, Kurt Malec of West Hartford; Stuart Malec of Suffield; Justin Scheidegger of West Hartford; Jason Jutras and his wife, Tina Marie, of Windsor, and their children, Carolyn and Vinnie; and Somer Adams and her husband, Marc, of East Windsor and their son, Nick; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves family friends, Carol McKinstry and her son, Tim, of Windsor Locks; Deny and Ann Gallagher, who did so much for her; and Mary McGrory, who assisted her in countless ways; her personal friends, Madeline Roncari and family; Harold Quagliaroli and his daughters, Tamie and Lori; Mattia and Lynda Montefusco; Jack Spalluto; Louis Sharp; and Robin Roncari, whom she adored and will do the readings at her Funeral Mass.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, Poquonock. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Vic, and her twin sister, Ursula, at a private graveside service at St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the St. Joseph Church, Remembrance Fund, P.O. 253, Poquonock, CT 06064.
