Harold A. "Pete" Wells, 86, of Vernon, beloved husband of Patricia (Connor) Wells, passed away on Dec. 22, 2016.

Pete was born July 18, 1930, in Hubbardston, Massachusetts, to the late George W. and F. Ella (Stone) Wells. He was raised in Hubbardston and was a resident of Vernon since 1961. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and prior to retiring in 1989, had been employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 36 years. For many years he also worked a second job at Manchester Memorial Hospital in Environmental Services. Pete had many hobbies including coin collecting, gardening, and amateur radio, which he began in 1961 with the call sign K1UAG. He cherished time spent with friends and family, especially if it involved camping throughout the U.S.

Pete is survived by Pat, his wife of 58 years; son Jim and his wife, Karin, of South Glastonbury; son Steve and his wife, Nancy, of Tolland; grandchildren, Christopher of Middletown, Lindsay and Alex of South Glastonbury; sisters Flora Kennedy of Higginsville, Missouri, Ruth Morain of Pensacola, Florida, Clara Wead and her husband, Raymond Jr., of Hubbardston; and several nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, Pete was predeceased by his grandson, Brian; brother, Frank; and brother Allen.

Calling hours are being held at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, (Route 83) Vernon, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service taking place there at 11 a.m. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Grove Hill Cemetery, 22 Cemetery Ave., Vernon.
