Helen Lakonski Obituary

Helen L. (Sadowski) Lakonski, of Somers, beloved widow of John "Ski" Lakonski, entered peacefully into eternal rest on June 16, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Enfield on May 7, 1919, a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Zdarski) Sadowski. Helen was raised in Enfield and was a resident of Somers for most of her life, where she was a faithful communicant of All Saints Church. Helen was a fabulous cook and she loved entertaining family and friends. Most of all she loved her family. Helen was an avid fan of UConn women's basketball and the Boston Red Sox. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and spending time at the beach.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Mary Lakonski of Somers, with whom she made her home, and Cheryl James, and her husband, Lawrence, of Crofton, Md.; her two special nieces, Pat and Amy Doyker; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, John, she was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Sadowski, and her sister, Steffie Park.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Helen's life on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Church, 25 School St., Somersville. Burial will be private.

Donations in Helen's memory may be made to Home & Community Health Services, P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
