Hildegard Boettcher Obituary

Hildegard (Forster) Boettcher, 84, of Stafford Springs, formerly of Southington, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, Gert, who predeceased her in 1997.

Born in Sudatenland, Germany, on Feb. 15, 1929, she was the only child of the late Anton and Maria (Merz) Forster. She retired from the Emhart Corp. after 25 years, and she and Gert shared a lifelong passion for traveling and many happy times camping with their friends. They resided in Southington until his death, when Hilde moved to the St. Lucien Home in New Britain for a short time, before joining her daughter in Stafford Springs, spending the last 10 years at Evergreen Health Care where they became her extended family.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and John Leone of Union; and her grandson, Michael John Leone, and his wife, Kimberly; and her two great-grandsons, precious and dear to her.

Honoring her wishes, Hilde's family will celebrate her life privately. Those who wish may remember her with contributions to the Evergreen Health Care Center Resident Bazaar Fund, Chestnut Hill Road, Stafford Springs, CT 06076; or the Home and Community Health Services, 101 Phoenix Ave., P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06082.

Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

To my dear friend Hildegard, I never forgot about you and prayed for you. You had a heavy effect on my life and taught me many things. I still use the tinsel that you gave me from Germany every year on my Christmas tree and all the ornaments, cards and little statues that you have given to me over the years. May you rest in peace with Gert my dear friend, all my love. Shelley Feeley
