John Hillis Obituary
He was born on March 25, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late George and Dorothy Hillis. John had resided in the greater Hartford area for numerous years and was employed as a mason in the construction industry. John will be fondly remembered by his family as being a loving father. He was known to be the cool guy who was always pleasant to be around and had various interests and hobbies.
He is survived by his four children, John F. Hillis and wife, Sarah E., Lynnell J. Hillis-Veilleux and husband, Justin, Carolyn M. Hillis and David Garcia all of Enfield, and Lisa Poe of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his former wife, Maryellen Hillis-Horan; his three beloved grandchildren, David A. Garcia, Johnny R. Hillis, and Justin D. Veilleux Jr.
Friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of his family. For online condolences and directions go to
