Joseph Kennedy Obituary
Born in Hartford on Nov. 9, 1928, son of the late Patrick J. and Nellie (Murphy) Kennedy, he had lived in South Windsor for the past 54 years. Joseph was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Before retiring, he was an underwriter for "Little Aetna" and Cigna Insurance Co. for 42 years. Also, he was employed part-time at Southern Auto, East Windsor, for 20 years. Earlier, he was a Cub Scout leader and was a coach for several years with the Red Sox Little League.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Visiting Nurse Association, Mary Keney, and Diane and the crew for the care he received.
He leaves four sons, Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., of South Windsor, Timothy J. Kennedy of Broad Brook, Christopher D. Kennedy of South Windsor, and John T. Kennedy, and his wife, Susan, of Manchester; two grandchildren, Daniel and Brendan Kennedy; a nephew, Brian Kenny of Windsor, and his children, Megan, Brian, and Colin; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Kennedy.
Family and friends may gather Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.
His family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurses and Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
