Leon W. Falkowski

Leon W. Falkowski, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, with loved ones at his side in the comfort of his home.

Leon was the beloved husband of 65 years to Albina (Kozikowski) Falkowski. He was born on June 28, 1928, in Suffield, the son of the late Walter and Christina (Murkowicz) Falkowski. Leon was a graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1947. Leon and Albina married in 1948 and then built their home in Enfield, where they resided for the past 60 years. Leon, an automobile mechanic for over 50 years, was an owner operator of A&H Service Station in Chicopee Falls, Mass., for 24 years. He was a member of the Enfield Historical Society and St. Bernard's Church, where he also served as an usher. His hobbies included building grandfather clocks and repairing all types of clocks, bird watching, traveling, vacationing in Cape Cod, and automobile restoration. A handyman with many skills, he also enjoyed helping friends and relatives with their repairs and projects.

Besides his loving wife, Albina, Leon is survived by his children, Richard Falkowski, and his wife, Joan, of Orlando, Fla., Cindy Falkowski of Norwich, and Linda Gauthier, and her husband, Matthew, of Enfield; his three beloved grandchildren; Kristen Tsardakas (James), Wende Cañarte (Frank), and Andrew Falkowski (Buffy); and five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Charles Falkowski of Florida, Chester Falkowski (Anna) of Enfield, Henry Falkowski (Irene) of Enfield, Elizabeth Strycharz of South Carolina, Frank Falkowski of Enfield, and Barbara Angelucci of Ansonia; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Victor Falkowski; a sister, Florence Jones; brothers-in-law, Bernie Strycharz and Elroy Jones; and sisters-in-law, Edith and Mimi Falkowski.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

The funeral procession will form at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at the funeral home to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Enfield.
