He was born on Dec. 17, 1927, in Woonsocket, R.I., son of the late Leo and Ruth (Keach) Roy. Len moved to Hartford as a young boy and graduated from Hartford Public High School, where he played varsity baseball and basketball. A resident of South Windsor for over 55 years, Len worked as a draftsman for Hamilton Standard for many years. He was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Parish in South Windsor. Len had passion for basketball and enjoyed watching the University of Maryland team when his son played and the UConn women's basketball team. Len was a kind, caring, and devoted father, brother, and grandfather who loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

His family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fox Hill Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and Beacon Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

He leaves his daughter, Deborah McAloney, and her husband, James, of South Windsor; his son, Thomas J. Roy, and his wife; Regine, of Sanatoga, Pa.; his sister, Sister Mary Ruth Roy of Hartford; two grandchildren, James "JT" McAloney, and his girlfriend, Kate Evans, of West Haven and Sarah McAloney, and her boyfriend, Jeremy Rider, of Swanzey, N.H.; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Roy of East Hartford and Gloria Roy of Cromwell. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Raymond, Russell and Norman Roy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. Burial with military honors will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.
