Lucille Breton Obituary

Lucille G. Breton, 84, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2013.

Born in Eagle Lake, Maine, on July 3, 1928, Lucille was the daughter of the late Leona and Emile Gagner. She was the youngest of eight children and moved to East Hartford prior to starting high school. After graduating high school in 1946, Lucille met her husband, Gerry, and together they enjoyed hosting family events at their home in Newington and traveling extensively. Lucille was employed at Connecticut General Insurance Co. in Bloomfield for 38 years. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, sing-a-longs, word games, Scrabble, trivia, playing cards, and was on a bowling team. Lucille liked dogs and cherished her black poodle, Nanette. Lucille will be remembered as being very sociable and having a great sense of humor. She always made a lasting impression with anyone she met. She will be dearly missed.

Lucille is survived by her sister, Lila Dube of Portland, Maine; sister-in-law, Gabrielle Johnson of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Loretta Soucie, Louis Gagner, Neal Gagner, Camille Gagner, Jeanette Thibodeau, and Beatrice Sime.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation on Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Benjamin J. Callahan/ Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Mountain Laurel Senior Living, where she loved her life for the last four years and Salmon Brook Healthcare in Glastonbury for taking such wonderful loving care of Lucille in her final days.

Our sincere condolences to Lucille's family. We were neighbors to Lucille and Jerry in the 1960's. They were godparents to our daughter, Cindy. We were able to take her to lunch while she was at the Mountain Laurel Senior Living Home. Rest in Peace, Lucille.
