Margaret Golowczyk Obituary
Margaret was born Dec. 11, 1931, in Altzedlisch, Germany, daughter of Josef and Maria (Feigler) Wilhelm. She was raised in Altzedlisch and Nueinhein im Taunus, Germany, and emigrated to the United States in 1957, where she resided in Glastonbury. She moved to Manchester in 1973 and became a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Bridget Church. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the former Iona Manufacturing Co. of Manchester and the former Bristol Brass Co. in South Windsor. Margaret enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and was a prolific knitter, often knitting items for the nurses and their families while at the hospital for her treatments.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Klaus and Sandy Schmitt of Norwalk; her sister, Rosa Worzischek of Bad Soden, Germany, and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
Funeral services are Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Manchester.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
