Martha Marturano Obituary

Martha (Skaparas) Marturano, 86, of Enfield, widow of Paul Marturano, went home to the Lord on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.

Martha was born May 16, 1927, in New Britain, the daughter of the late Joseph and Olive (Whaples) Skaparas. She was a resident of Enfield since 1960 and retired from St Joseph Residence where she was employed as a receptionist for many years. Martha was a longtime faithful and active parishioner of St. Bernard Church and served on the Parish Council and the Liturgy Committee.

She is survived by four children, Esther Marturano of Enfield with whom she resided; Cathy Marturano of Chicopee, Mass., Ruth McCracken and her husband, James, and Joseph Marturano all of Enfield; 17 grandchildren, Melissa, Angie, Lori, Megan, Amanda, Michelle, Anthony, Philip, Brennen, Bailey, James, Heather, Evan, Joshua, Michael, Jason, and Nikki; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Caroline, and Madison and several nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her son, Peter David Marturano.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.

A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Bernard Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082 to help defray expenses.
