Michael Maheux Obituary

Michael "Mike" John Maheux, 49, of Ellington, passed from his earthly journey to eternal life on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 24 years to Susan Jean (Wlazlo) Maheux.

Michael was born on Oct. 24, 1964, in Hartford, son of Roger M. and Pauline H. (Doucette) Maheux of Enfield. He resided in Enfield for most of his life and in Ellington for the past two years. Mike was employed with the Longmeadow, Mass., Fire Department for 22 years and was a volunteer with the North Thompsonville Fire Department. In his leisure time he enjoyed walking his dogs, spending time with Sue, hanging with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle and quads. He loved being outside. He and Sue fostered and rescued dogs. He was always lending a helping hand to others and was an advocate of the fire service.

Besides his wife and parents, Mike also leaves to mourn his passing his dogs, Lexi and Jake; his brother, Scott Maheux and wife, Donna, of Ellington; his sister, Susan Maheux and husband, Sean, of Enfield; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, from 3 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial and remembrance service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mike's name may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

I am so sadden over this Sue. I am also so sorry I'm just finding out. I really enjoyed my time spent with Michael, he's a wonderful man and I'm thankful for all he's done. My heart is broken for you, him and the family. There are no words.
