Olga Freeman Obituary

Olga (Kunikewich) Freeman, 90, of East Hartford, wife of the late George B. Freeman Sr., passed on to the next world Monday, July 29, 2013, in South Windsor.

Mrs. Freeman was born June 15, 1923, in Glastonbury, to Simon and Mary (Krawicz) Kunikewich, both of whom emigrated to the U.S. from the Ukraine. She had lived in Glastonbury many years where she attended school, moving to East Hartford 20 years ago.

Mrs. Freeman is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Freeman, and his wife, Sandra, of Tolland, Dale Freeman, and his wife, Joanne, of East Hartford; her daughter Deborah Kelly "Swee' Pea," and her husband, Brooks, of New Haven; her brother, Peter Konney, and his wife, Joan, of Manchester; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Merrill Konney.

She was Olga, Ollie. She was a daughter, wife, Mom, sister, Auntie, cousin, Nana, and Great-Nana. She was a friend, confidante, and caregiver to all family and friends, including her father and mother and then her husband. Mrs. Freeman was a graceful, kind, and gentle lady and soul. She was a brave, proud, and devoted woman who understood the preciousness of life. Her bright blue eyes just twinkled with life. Her zest for living revealed in her sense of humor, intelligence, and creativity, especially found in her beautiful gardens where she worked tirelessly. She also treasured her summers at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and in Provincetown on Cape Cod, Mass. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, Glastonbury, where she selflessly volunteered her time for dozens of years. She will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her dear life.

Funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.

Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of Christ, Congregational, Glastonbury.
