R. Sheridan Obituary

R. Edward "Ed" Sheridan, 85, of East Windsor, beloved husband of 63 years of Janet (Kennedy) Sheridan, entered into eternal rest Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital.

Ed was born in Windsor Locks, son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Shea) Sheridan and was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School and the University of Notre Dame. He was a former resident of Enfield and West Suffield moving to East Windsor 10 years ago. Ed was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed as an aeronautical engineer for 35 years by the Hamilton Standard Division of UTC, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church and served as a fire commissioner for the Suffield Fire Department. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family.

Besides his beloved wife, Janet, Ed is survived by his loving daughter, Noreen Congelos, and her husband, Steve, of Broad Brook; his three cherished grandsons, Steve, Marc, and his companion, Kristin Blakeley, and Anthony; his siblings, Jeanne McMahon of New Hampshire, Charlene Kearns, and her husband, Bill, of Windsor Locks, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John, and his sister, Eleanor Hines.

Ed's family will receive relatives and friends at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home for a funeral procession to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery with military honors.

Ed's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the seventh floor at St. Francis Hospital for their wonderful care of Ed during his illness.

Memorial donations in Ed's name may be made to Masonicare Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108.
