Richard Croteau Obituary

Richard Roderick Croteau, 74, of Broad Brook, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at a local convalescent home.

He was born on May 10, 1939, in Keene, N.H., son of the late Ernest R. and Helene (Pregent) Croteau. Dick grew up in West Hartford and was a graduate of Hall High School. He served our country with the U.S. Army Reserve. Dick lived in South Windsor before moving to Broad Brook over 15 years ago. He enjoyed skiing, boating, and fishing on Long Island Sound, golfing, riding motorcycles, and collecting sports cars. Richard was a kind, caring, and devoted man who will be greatly missed by all.

He leaves his nieces, Deborah Aflalo of Danbury, and Robin Spencer, and her husband, David, of Keene, N.H.; his grandnieces, Taylor Mills of New Milford and Nicole Mills of Danbury; his grandnephews, Steven Brown of Rochester, N.Y. and John Brown of Keene, N.H.; a great-grandnephew, Anthony Marte of Danbury; and his cousin, Roberta Caswell of Bangor, Maine. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Sims.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Burial will be private at the request of his family.

Hello, I am not sure where to start. I personaly never met Uncle Dick in person. But talked to him on the phone, and learned much about him through my wife Robin Spencer. I wish I did get to talk to Uncle Dick, Throught Robins storries He was a generous honorable Family Man. We are all sadden from his passing. But we are all better for have had him in our lives.

Dick was a great friend, co-worker at Kaman Aerospace and golf and lunch partner for many years. He will be greatly missed by me. My condolences to his family, especially to Debi who kept me up to date on Dick's condition. May you find comfort in the memories you hold of him. May he now rest in peace.
