Richard J. Yedziniak

Richard J. Yedziniak, 72, of Ellington, loving husband of 47 years to Carol (Maciejko) Yedziniak, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his home with his family at his side.

Born in Hartford, the son of the late Edward and Mary (Budarz) Yedziniak, he grew up in Hartford with an avid interest in astronomy, often writing articles for local publications. Active in high school sports, he earned his varsity letter for tennis at Bulkley High School. He was a graduate of the University of Hartford, Class of 1964. At the age of 25, he became involved in state politics, beginning with a run for the Hartford City Council. He was elected the youngest member of the legislature in a special election in 1968. Richard served as a state representative for the Fifth District in Hartford from 1968 to 1972. After the birth of his children, he moved his family to Glastonbury. During the 1970s and 1980s he served as director of the Connecticut Engineers in Private Practice. Prior to his retirement, Richard was involved in various aspects of real estate, ranging from property turnover to mortgage broker.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his beloved children, Cindi Bisset and her husband, Jeff, of Manchester, and Rit Yedziniak and his partner, Brenda Seaburgh, and her son Tyler, of Glastonbury; a sister-in-law, Helen Yedziniak of Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Yedziniak.

His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Monday, July 29, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
