Ronald W. Aborn

Ronald W. Aborn, 77, of Vernon, loving and devoted husband of over 42 years to Gloria (DeCarli) Aborn, passed away from this life on Friday, July 19, 2013, after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born to the late Wilfred and Katherine Aborn on May 31, 1936, in Norwich.

He is also survived by his two sisters, Loywanna Minor of Ellington and Joan Russi, and her husband, Phil, of Jewett City. He was especially close with his niece, Madeline Page of Tolland, and his nephew, Richard Page Sr. of Vernon, and their children, Rick and Amy Page of Willington, Kim and Steve Brennan of Tolland, Jenn and Rick Durkee of Hebron, and Amy Fluckiger of Vernon; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, great and great-greats included; especially his little buddy, Lane. He also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Ronnie was a longtime resident of Vernon. He was a veteran paratrooper with the U.S. Army. He retired in the late '90s from Electrical Wholesalers. One thing he cherished was being near the ocean with Gloria. He was an avid lover of fishing, horse racing, cooking, sports, crosswords, and time spent with family and friends. Ronnie was a person to be counted on, a person who knew a little about almost everything, had a great sense of humor and was an accomplished story teller.

Calling hours will be Friday, July 26, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11 a.m.
