Stanley Cihkey Obituary

Stanley P. Cihkey, 84, of Enfield, loving husband of Rita A. (Jackson) Cihkey entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital.

Stanley was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Hartford, the son of the late Stanley and Sophie (Dichenska) Cihkey. Stanley proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Toledo and retired as a mechanical engineer from Kaman Aerospace after 42 years. Stanley was a member of the American Legion John Maciolek Post 154 in Enfield, the Enfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 2222, a proud member of the USS Toledo Plank Holders and the National Geographic Society. Golf was a very important aspect of Stanley's life, as he was an avid golfer for many years.

In addition to his wife, Rita, to whom he was married 63 years, he is also survived by his two children, Kathleen Beale of Suffield and Richard Cihkey of Enfield; two grandchildren, Kirk and Annelyse Cihkey; and a sister, Barbara Middleton of Suffield. Stanley was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tristina Beale.

There are no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Stanley will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road. Stanley will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations maybe made to National Geographic Society Development Office, 1145 17th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20036. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels.
