Stanley Andrew "Stan" Halgas

Stanley "Stan" Andrew Halgas, 83, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.

He was born in Ludlow, Mass., on July 5, 1930, to the late Andrew and Ludwika (Kaczmarski) Halgas. Stanley was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Victoria (Ziemnicki) Halgas in 1993. Stan has been a resident of Enfield since 1935. He proudly served his country and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Hamilton Standard as senior financial manager after 32 years of various financial positions. Stan went on to get CPA certification and after working for several CPA firms went on to establish his own CPA firm. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus of Enfield and was a very active member of American Legion Post 154 of Enfield for over 50 years, past commander, and for many years, chairman of the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund.

Stan leaves his devoted children, his son, Michael Halgas and daughter-in-law, Elaine, of Enfield; and his daughter, Susan (Halgas) Satkiewicz and son-in-law, Edmund, of Enfield; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Sarah, and Andrew Halgas, Brian Halgas, and his fiancée, Shannon Bengston, Kathryn (Satkiewicz) Hartig, and her husband, Andrew, Emily (Satkiewicz) Garcia Sega, and her husband, Adrian, E. Paul Satkiewicz, and his fiancée, Paulene Coronel, and Daniel Satkiewicz. He also leaves six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Cameron, Jaxson, Everett, Claire, and Cora. Stan also leaves his loving companion, Evie Wheat, of Enfield and her extended family. He is also survived by his brother, Chester Halgas and wife, Elizabeth, of New Jersey; and his sister, Stella (Halgas) Sass of Enfield. He leaves many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Steffie (Halgas) Jacobek and Edwina (Halgas) Samborski; and his brother, Mitchell Halgas.

Funeral services for Stanley will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, at 11 a.m. for a procession to St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Ave., for his Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at noon. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery. A visitation for Stanley will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m.
