Stefan Sych

Stefan Sych, 95, of Suffield, beloved husband for over 55 years of Christine (Gaim) Sych, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his home.

Born in Germany to the late Franciszek and Marianna Sych, he was raised in Poland and immigrated to the U.S. after World War II. He began working on the local tobacco farms before doing construction work for the Roncari Co. for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Suffield. Stefan enjoyed his garden, where he grew vegetables and flowers, as well as his visits to the Polish festivals and polka music. He was a modest man who worked very hard to take care of his family who will miss him dearly.

Besides his wife Christine of Suffield, he is survived by his son, Richard Sych, and his wife, Lori, of Suffield; his daughters, Christine Paro, and her husband, Kevin, of Broad Brook, and Susan Ruggiero of Enfield; his brother, Tadeusz Sych of Poland; and his grandchildren, Adam Ogram, Kaitlin and Melissa Sych, Anthony, Stefan, and Ava Ruggiero. Besides his parents, five brothers and one sister predeceased him.

Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North, Suffield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 140 S. Main St., Suffield, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
