Veronica C. "Ronnie" Smalley

Veronica "Ronnie" C. Smalley, 95, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Michael Smalley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her home.

Born in Windsor on Dec. 29, 1917, daughter of the late Augustus "Gus" and Anna (Yurgelavich) Cegalis, she was raised in the Rainbow section of Windsor and had lived in Windsor Locks since 1950. Ronnie worked for many years at the Fuller Brush Co. in Hartford. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and decorating outside her home and attending and holding tag sales throughout the spring and summer. As a young woman, Ronnie was very musical and enjoyed playing the organ. She was raised in St. Joseph Church in the Poquonock section of Windsor and had been a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks since 1950.

She leaves three nieces, June Danner of Windsor, Virginia Danner of New York, N.Y., and Joanne Millett, and her husband, Kenneth, of Acton, Mass.; a nephew, William "Bill" Cegalis; her dedicated and loving caregiver, Elzbieta Wasiluk; and 10 great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Peter Cegalis and John Cegalis; a sister, Josephine (Cegalis) Danner; and a nephew, John "Jack" Cegalis.

Family and friends may gather on Saturday, June 22, at 9 a.m. at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home.
