Victor Squadrito Obituary

Victor T. Squadrito, 87, of Manchester, beloved husband of Ruth (Klaus) Squadrito, died peacefully Saturday Jan. 4, 2014, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Victor was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Stonington, son of the late Vincent and Mary (Danesi) Squadrito, he was raised in Mystic, attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Stonington High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and later graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park, Washington, D.C., now called Montgomery College. Victor began his career with AT&T and retired after 36 years with the company. In retirement he was an active volunteer delivering meals for Meals on Wheels and Foodshare. Victor was a communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester, a member of the Manchester Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 1893, the Knights of Columbus Campbell Council 573, and the Pioneers of America. Vic also played in many golf and bowling leagues.

In addition to his loving wife he is survived by four children, Thomas Squadrito, and his wife, Denise, of Ellington, Barbara Cook, and her husband, Winston, of Bridgewater, Mass., Vicky LeTellier, and her husband, John, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Paul Squadrito of Oviedo, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jenn, Andy, Matt, Nicole, Megan, Sean, Nick, Anna, and Hayden; and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include three stepchildren, Tom Neumann, and his wife, Lori, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Tim Neumann, and his wife, Kit, of Kennebunk, Maine, Sally Wade, and her husband, Matt, of Jericho, Vt.; seven step-grandchildren, Teresa, Greg, Doug, Mary Kate, Dan, Tristan; and one step great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial with military honors will be in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to Foodshare, 450 Woodland Ave., Bloomfield, CT 06002; or to St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester, CT 06042.
