Walter Bass Obituary
Walter E. Bass Sr. (Basuikiewicz) was born on Sept. 25, 1925, to Connie and Josephine Basuikiewicz in Enfield. He was a local farmer, milkman, and businessman in East Windsor, and was active in his church and community. Walter served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Town of East Windsor and as the sergeant at arms of the Connecticut State Senate. In their later years, Walter and his wife, Margaret, became residents of Marco Island, where they made many friends. Throughout his retirement Walter continued to be involved in civic and religious organizations in the Marco Island community.
He is survived by is sons, Attorney Walter E. Bass Jr., and his wife, Gail, John H. Bass, and his wife, Helen, Peter T. Bass, and Paul A. Bass. Walter is also survived by his grandchildren, Caroline, Danielle, Joshua, Betsy, Susan and Peter Jr.; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Henry Bednarz; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Oliva, and her husband, Donald; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Bednarz) Bass; his sisters, Mary Mokrycki and Veronica Bass; and his brothers, William Bass, Joseph Bass, and John Bass. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital for the care they provided their father.
Walter's family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Philip Church, 154 S. Main St., East Windsor, where a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Walter's life will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Walter's memory be made to the Walter and Margaret Bass Scholarship Fund, c/o Knights of Columbus, San Marco Council, P.O. Box 417, Marco Island, FL 34146.

OH WALTER, I am so sorry! My Dad just passed on 7/13/13 so I feel your pain. I was in Connecticut last week for my Dad's funeral. Best to you and your family. Miss your joking and kidding with me!!!

I would like to add my prayers and condolences to Walter's family. He was a delightful friend and generous fellow . I will always be grateful to him and Margaret, while I worked on Marco Island. I even got to share the bounty from their citrus crop in the backyard. Know that your are all in my thoughts and prayers

My thoughts and prayers to Walter's family. I will always remember Walter's smile and laugh whenever I would meet him when we both lived in East Windsor. Walter was a knowledgeable man in many areas, whether it was business related, politics, farming, town history or life in general I really enjoyed the conversations. I hope all who knew him will reflect on the many happy times with Walter and celebrate his accomplishments.
