Winifred Faber Obituary

Winifred (Daniels) Faber, 93, of Vernon, formerly of Stafford Springs and Manchester, beloved wife of the late Edward R. Faber, passed away peacefully, Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, with her family by her side.

Born in Hartford, May 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Ceila (Boughton) Daniels. Winifred was raised in East Hartford, graduating from East Hartford High School in 1939. She started her work career with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and its subsidiaries, where she worked until her retirement. Winifred was a devout Catholic, a member of St. James Church, Manchester, along with being a member of the Ladies of the Assumption, Manchester. In addition, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a past Regent. She was a member of the Mother's Circle in Manchester. Winifred was extremely philanthropic with sharing her time and ensuring that those in need had the basic necessities of life and a little extra, especially during holidays. She and her husband, Ed, enjoyed music and the joy it would bring - Ed with being a musician with the Ray Henry Band and Winifred singing with The Sweet Adelines.

Winifred will be fondly remembered by her loving family, three sons, Edward Faber of Vernon, and his wife, Connie, Martin and Therese Faber of Stafford Springs, Ralph Faber of Enfield; two daughters, Jeanne Calamore of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Katharine Faber of Killingworth; 13 adored grandchildren; and 17 cherished great-grandchildren.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects to Winifred and her family on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Winifred's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Augustine Cemetery, Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations are made in Winifred's name to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road No. 105, Middletown, CT 06457.

Dear Faber Family,

I was very sorry to hear of Winifred's passing. She was a wonderful person and dearly loved by all her children.

I fondly remember the wonderful times we had growing up attending parties and family gatherings at the Faber home in Manchester, CT.

Dear Fabers,

I have to say Fabers because I'm sure I know almost all of you. We are so sorry for your loss.

She loved you so much. I can remember how adoringly she would look upon you.

While she lived with Martin, Therese, Little Martin and Mathew, you made her feel comfortable and cared for and loved.

I wish I had known her in her younger days. It sounds like she was an amazing woman. That's why you guys are so terrific.

What a great life she had, despite the last few years. She is surely in God's hands. What a great place to be. Praise the Lord.

God bless you all during this hard time. May you rest in peace Mrs. Winifred Daniels Faber.

Love,
Ramona Randazzo, Marion Gammons and family
