Alphonse "Al" Grigitis, 90, of Enfield, beloved husband of Adele (Gucwa) Grigitis for almost 67 years, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at The Suffield House.

The son of the late John and Mary (Bavarsky) Grigitis, Al was born and raised in Somersville, and had lived in the Enfield community since 1946. He was a member of St. Adalbert Church. Al was an Army World War II veteran and was a member of the John Maciolek Post No. 154 American Legion. He was retired from Pratt & Whitney after 35 years with the company. An avid golfer, Al also was a former member of the Cedar Knob Men's Club. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and long walks.

Besides his wife, Adele, Al is survived by a son, David Grigitis, and his wife, Vesna, of West Hartford; a grandson, Sladjan and Christy, and a great-granddaughter, Eliza. He was predeceased by three brothers, Tony, John, and Stanley Grigitis; and two sisters, Nellie Miffit and Stella Courtemache.

Family and friends will gather 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, for a procession to St. Adalbert Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Committal with military honors will follow at St. Adalbert's Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be held Friday, April 26, from 4 to 7 at Leete-Stevens. His family wishes to thank the staff at The Suffield House for their wonderful care.
