Ann (Dorr) Celmer, 86, of Vernon, wife of the late Dr. Walter Celmer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, with her family at her side.

Born in Willimantic, the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Dube) Dorr, she grew up and lived in Willimantic until moving to New London in 1979. She moved to Vernon in 2010 to be close to her family. Ann was an executive secretary at the University of Connecticut for 17 years before moving to New London where she worked as a volunteer for the Thames Science Center and then as a secretary for the office of volunteers at Connecticut College. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in New London for over 30 years. Ann was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association and was an active member of the Windham High School Class of 1945 class reunion committee. Her hobbies included her plants with her great "green thumb," knitting for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her love of her cats.

She is survived by her beloved children, Karen Jedrziewski, and her husband, Stefan, of Willington, Donna Bottari, and her husband, Anthony, of Gansevoort, N.Y., and Linda Borovicka of Vernon whose husband, John Borovicka, predeceased her in 2009; seven grandchildren, Kerri Durdan, Stefan "CJ" Jedrziewski Jr., and his wife, Lindy, Kevin Desrosiers, Jason Desrosiers, and his wife, Crystal, Michael Bottari, and his wife, Maryann, Bethany Chanthavisouk, and her husband, Sid, and Kimmie Farrell, and her husband, Dave; eight great-grandchildren, and her caregiver and special friend, Jolanta Augustynowicz, who lived with her for the past two and a half years. Ann was also predeceased by her brother, Charles Dorr.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Turnpike (Route 30), Vernon. Entombment will follow at 1 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery, 600 Jefferson Ave., New London.
