Arthur D. Hart, 88, of Vernon, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Jan. 8, 1925 in Torrington, he was the son to the late Donald and Ada (Reeves) Hart and grew up and lived in Torrington before moving to Vernon in 1950. He was a WWII veteran, serving his country proudly with the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge from the military, he attended the University of Connecticut and received his undergraduate degree in 1953. He later became an underwriter for The Hartford Insurance Group. Arthur was a member of the Rockville United Methodist Church and the Rockville American Legion Post #14. He coached Little League baseball for 17 years, and enjoyed duckpin bowling, fast pitch softball, working in his yard, and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Gay McDevitt of Vernon and Gary Hart and his wife, Laura, of Vernon; and four grandchildren, John, Jill, David, and Grace. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Kurlovich) Hart.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
