Arthur N. Usher Sr., 87, beloved husband of Janet (Easter) Usher for 67 years, entered into eternal peace Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford surrounded by his loving family.
Affectionately known as "Usher," he was born in Enfield, the son of the late John and Mary (Quinn) Usher, and lived in Somersville most of his life before moving to the Scitico section of Enfield. He retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1987 after 36 years with the company. He enjoyed working around the yard and was very handy, always willing to lend his assistance to family and friends.
Besides his wife, Janet, Usher is survived by a son, Arthur N. Usher Jr. "Timmy" and his wife, Patricia, of Enfield; a daughter, Gloria Wood, of Bolton; six siblings, Carl Usher, Jeninne Petkis, Geraldine Dawicki, Carol Bigda, Kenneth Usher, and Dennis Usher and his wife, Joanne; three grandchildren, Nichole Fuller and her husband, Doug, Derek Wood, and Steven Usher and his wife, Tammy; six great-grandchildren, Emilee Waterhouse, Craig Wood, Dale and Samantha Fuller, Aubree Usher, and Derek Wood Jr. He also leaves several nieces and nephews along with his loving canine companion, Clementine. He was predeceased by a brother, John Usher.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital and Masonicare for their compassionate care.
Visitation hours will be held for Usher Thursday, April 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, immediately followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
