Bertha (Bolles) Bray, 84, of Tolland, loving wife of the late Joseph Bray Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012.

Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Mather) Bolles, she grew up in Newington and lived most of her life in Vernon. Prior to her retirement in 1989, Bertha was the bookkeeper for the former Zahner's Woodworking in Vernon for many years. She was a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church. Bertha was an avid square dancer and she enjoyed sewing and quilting. She belonged to a quilting group. When her children were small, she was very active in the Vernon PTO. Bertha is well known for the custom bears she made, and her business was called B.B. Bears. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved children, Susan Auskaps of Colorado, Joseph Bray Jr. of Vernon, and Sandra Blair, and her husband, Bruce, of Tolland; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Bray and Emily Auskaps; two great-grandsons, Connor and Aric Bray; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Bolles.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
