Carl E. Gustafson, 63, of Ellington, loving husband of Judy A. Gustafson, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Hartford Hospital.

Born March 14, 1949, in East Hartford, he was a son to the late Leroy and Pauline (Scally) Gustafson. Carl was employed for several years as a security guard for Pratt & Whitney. He was later employed with the Manchester Ambulance and Metro Wheelchair, and then with the Vernon Public Schools, recently retiring as head custodian at Rockville High School. He enjoyed NASCAR, cars, spending time with his family, and had developed a strong belief in "Let go and let God."
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his son, Erik C. Gustafson, and his fiancée, Shannon M. Lee, and her son, Ethan Lee, of Ft. Greely, Alaska; daughter, Angela S. Gustafson (Carl's eternal birthday present); and sacré coeur, Jason Legere of Ellington; and other loving family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Gustafson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon.
