Carmen Anthony Bongiovanni

Carmen Anthony Bongiovanni, 81, of Vernon, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018.

Born in Hartford, son of the late Sebastian and Mary (Paolitto) Bongiovanni, he lived in Connecticut and Florida for many years before settling in Vernon. He attended the University of Hartford. Carmen retired from CIGNA (Connecticut General Life Insurance Co.), and was enjoying his time with his son, William. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army ranger with the 83rd Battalion, making at least 22 jumps, achieving the rank of staff sargent.

He is survived by his son, Billy of Vernon; and he also leaves behind two sisters, Sophie Zaccaro of Bristol and Theresa Wasielewski of Rocky Hill; and a sister–in-law, Donna Bongiovanni of Exton, Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Joseph; his brother, Sebastian Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Edward Wasielewski. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces. He also will be missed by his cousin and friend, Frances "Frani-Ann" Tedeschi.

Calling hours will be held at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. A prayer service will follow and will conclude with military honors. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
