Carolyn Janssen Wagner, 71, of Manchester, beloved and devoted wife of the late John G. Wagner Sr., passed away peacefully Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Fox Hill in Vernon.

Carolyn was born June 25, 1943, in New Rochelle, N.Y., daughter of the late Theodore H. and Olga W. (Dimbat) Janssen and had been a resident of Manchester for most of her life. She attended Manchester High School and had been active with the Round Table Singers and other groups. Carolyn enjoyed her flower gardens, going to the seashore and watching Tall Ships and looking at Lighthouses. She loved the arts, especially singing and drawing. She was a volunteer with the Manchester Bicentennial Band Shell, which she enjoyed so much and was a big part of her life. She was a Christian Scientist and had helped out at her church. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Watkins Brothers Furniture Store and Fuss & O'Neill. Carolyn was a loving person to all as well as caregiver for her mother.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Fox Hill for the loving care shown to Carolyn during her time there.
She is survived by and was a devoted mother to her son, Theodore J. "Ted" Wagner and his wife, Stacey, of Coventry. Other survivors include her cousins, David and Claire; nephew Bill and his wife, Christine; and numerous close friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 15, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in East Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
