Catherine (Butler) Lewis, 96, of Vernon, wife of the late Richmond Lewis, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Rockville General Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Wilson) Butler, she grew up and lived in Brooklyn before moving to Vernon over 50 years ago. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister. and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Catherine worked part time at the Sears in Manchester for several years.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Carney of Vernon; three grandchildren, Kim and Michael Lauria and Robert Carney; two great-granddaughters, Chelsee and Kayla; a brother, Joseph Butler of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Marie Butler of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Margaret Angelos of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her daughter, June Lauria; three brothers, Jimmy, Francis, and John Butler; and a sister, Betty Muccigrosso.

Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.

Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Vernon.
