Catherine "Cassie" Madden Beattie, the wife of the late Thomas G. Beattie, died on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Cassie was born in Ireland, the daughter of Patrick and Sarah (Connolly) Madden and moved to Manchester as a young child. She attended Manchester schools and worked for the BonAmi Co. for 10 years. Cassie was a soft and civil lady who was devoted to her family and her church.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Walczyk of South Windsor; her grandchildren, John Walczyk of Farmington, Cassandra Walczyk of Waldboro, Maine, and Susanne Walczyk of Manchester; her great-grandson, Donovan P. Moran; her sister, Rita Miller of Manchester; John Walczyk of Manchester; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Patrick, Peter, James, Donald, Frank, and Harry Madden; and her sisters, Mary Bingham, Marge Cratty, Teresa Machell, and Elizabeth McParland.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, Manchester, with burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
