Cecil W. Benefield, 60, of Windsor Locks, passed away Nov. 23, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, with his longtime companion, Lauren Buika, by his side.

Cecil was born Oct. 18, 1952, in Melbourne, Fla., the son of the late Raymond and Winifred (Fedo) Benefield. Cecil was employed with Russo Landscaping for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, listening to Bob Dylan, and taking his dog, Jake, for a walk.
He is survived by three brothers, Ronald Fedo and wife, Pat, of Enfield, Ernest Benefield of Windsor Locks, and Thomas Benefield and wife, Sharley, of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Betty Buckley and husband, Charles, of West Suffield and Eva Rehnberg and husband, Wayne, of Windsor Locks; his four-legged friend, Jake; and many nieces and nephews. Cecil was predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, David, E.W., and Richard Benefield, and a sister, Joyce Maggi.
Funeral services are private and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Cecil's memory may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell St., Newington, CT 06111.
