David H. Johnson, 75, of Vernon, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born June 7, 1943, in Manchester to the late Harvey and Grace (Howard) Johnson. He grew up in the North End and graduated from Manchester High School. He worked for many years at Klock Co. in Manchester and Special Steel Treating in East Granby before retiring in 2011. David was an avid pool, chess, and card player. He was a member of the Hartford Metro Cribbage Club, achieving bronze status and played set-back competitively. He and his wife Sharon loved traveling with Sharon's sisters and brothers-in-law to Cape Cod and Bar Harbor, Maine. In recent years he took those trips with his children and grandchildren.

David is survived by his children: his daughter, Patricia Johnson of Tolland; his son, Eric Johnson of Vernon; and his beloved grandchildren, Caitlin Cardin, Alex Johnson, Meghan Cardin, and Jacob Johnson; as well as his sister and her husband, Dawn and Donald Rivest of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts; his sister-in-law and her husband, Maureen and Morris Webber of Ellington; and his sister-in-law, Ursula Dyer of Plainville, Massachusetts; his beloved friends, John and Kinuko Stoutnar; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Sharon (Lynch) Aug. 12, 2014.

Relatives and friends may join the family for a funeral service Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.
