With a blend of sadness and thankfulness, the family and friends of David Hangartner of Ellington, announce his passing after a brief illness Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at the age of 96.

David leaves his beloved wife, Barb (Fluckiger) Hangartner after 49 years of marriage. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Dave was born and raised in central Illinois before his military service. He served a tour of duty with the Army in Europe and a second tour with the Air Force in Japan. After the service and several years in Illinois, he moved to Wichita, Kansas, and then to Ellington where he and Barb lived for his last 40 years. David was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ellington.

Funeral service will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington, Sunday, Jan. 13, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery with military honors.

Family and friends may express their condolences and share memories at calling hours Saturday, Jan. 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church Alms Fund, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington, CT 06029.
