David Julius Davis, 76, of Vernon and beloved husband of Joan (Trotter) Davis, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Hartford Hospital.

He was born Jan. 1, 1937, to the late Fred and Juliette (Reid) Davis in Putnam. He was by trade an auto mechanic and body man for years. David was an avid fisherman, loved dancing with his wife, especially square and round dancing. His hobbies also included gardening, fixing things, playing the game Aggravation, and just loved anything to do with the great outdoors. He had a great sense of humor that brought a special charm that he could give to others to make them smile. David was a proud donor to the gift of life and gave the gift of donation to Life Choice because of his importance in giving back to others.
Besides his loving wife, Joan, he is survived by his children, Robert Lavallee and his wife, Kim, Karen Lynch, James Lavallee, Ray Lavallee, Douglas Davis, Russell Davis and his wife, Lisa, David Davis Jr., Patricia Davis, and Pamela; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Paul and Sylvia Davis, Mac Davis and Pauline, Patty Stillwell, Michael and Tammy Davis; and sister-in-law, Anna Mae Davis. He is also survived by his dearest friends, Norah and Bernie Gadomski. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Lawrence; and three brothers, Kenneth, Richard, and Charlie Davis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm St., Rockville.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the services.
