Dolores "Dee" (DeDonato) DeAngelis, 79, of East Hartford, most loving wife of 56 years to the late Richard "Dick" DeAngelis, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on April 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Dominic and Marie DeDonato, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 50 years. Dee graduated from Edison High School in Mount Vernon, N.Y. Prior to her retirement she was employed for over 30 years by Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford. A devout Catholic, Dee was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford, where she was an active member of their Retirees Club, a volunteer at weekly Bingo, and a regular attendee at daily Mass. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a devoted and loyal fan of the UConn Women's basketball team. Dee enjoyed giving back to her community and was a dedicated volunteer at the East Hartford Friendship Center (Soup Kitchen), Manchester Memorial Hospital, and for "Our Soldiers Packing" services.

Most of all, Dee loved being a grandmother to her two grandsons, Joey and Christopher. Dee is survived by her daughter, Dana A. Tierinni and her husband, Joseph, (who was like a son to Dee) of East Hartford with whom she made her home; a daughter, Diane DeAngelis Brittain and her fiancé, Patrick Cherry, of El Dorado, Calif.; two special grandsons who were the loves of her life, Sgt. Joseph Richard Tierinni of the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Polk, La., and Christopher James Tierinni and his fiancée, Ashley Geraldi, of East Hartford. She also leaves two brothers, Donald DeDonato of Bronxville, N.Y., Robert "Bobby" DeDonato and his wife, Trudi, of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; a sister, Joan Neale and her husband, Fred, of Harrison, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 31, at 9:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, May Road/Brandon Road, East Hartford.
