Doris (Matalewieg) Lewis, 83, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late George T. Lewis, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at her home.

Doris was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Winsted, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Carter) Matalewieg, and had lived in East Hartford for many years before moving to Manchester in 1960. She was a longtime active and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hartford, and retired after many years as an X-ray technician at Hartford Hospital.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Robin (Lewis) Herrera, and her husband, Elmer; two granddaughters, Brittany (Eldridge) Rice, and her husband, Nick, and Amanda Eldridge; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Rice, all of Manchester. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl L. Lewis, and brother, Charles E. Matalewieg.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
