Dorothy F. Africano, 79, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018.

Born and raised in Enfield, Dottie was a lifetime resident of Enfield. She graduated from Enfield High School and shared 34 wonderful years of a marriage with her loving husband Eugene F. Africano, who predeceased her (1993). She was a co-owner of Eugene's Restaurant in Enfield from 1977 to 1990, operating alongside her husband. She was then employed as office manager for 25 years at Langonet Inc. where she worked for her beloved son-in-law, Peter Langone. Her love in life was that of being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her times with her longtime friends, playing cards and bingo. Dottie always sat and listened to everyone and enjoyed her conversations. Everyone who knew Dottie knew she was a giving person, always thinking and doing for others. In the community she volunteered her time as a Boy Scout leader, PTA member, and a school volunteer.

She is survived by her children, Lt. Colonel Charles F. Africano and his wife, Lana, of Alexandria, Virginia, Karen Massa and her husband, Michael, of Mountainside, New Jersey, Arlene Langone and her husband, Peter, of Suffield; her grandchildren, Nicholas Africano, 2nd Lt. Anthony Africano, Joseph Africano, and Nicole Massa. She also leaves a brother, Edward Zawistowski and his wife, Tami, of East Granby. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Caroline Zukowski.

Family and friends are invited for visitation hours from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Leete-Stevens. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Enfield.
