Elizabeth J. Broucek, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Gobel) Broucek, passed away peacefully among friends on March 13, 2013.

She was a faithful communicant of St. Rose Church, a lifelong resident of East Hartford, where she attended local schools. She later acquired her degree at the Morse School of Business in Hartford. Many happy years were spent with her colleagues, friends, and family traveling to many destinations in Europe and elsewhere on ocean liners, which she said "was the only way to go". As a member of the Manchester Country Club, she spent many happy days golfing and competing with friends. Her successful career ended with her retirement at which time she had acquired the position of Secretary to a Vice President of the Cigna Insurance Co. Betty was known for her love of animals, especially her beloved dogs. She could be seen almost daily taking her long walks and stopping to chat with neighbors, usually swapping dog stories. She contributed generously to many animal and humanitarian organizations.

Betty will be missed by many including her dear friends, Dolores Arsenault, Jeanne Sylvestro, Barbara Burns, and Jinny and Santo Alleano; especially by her longtime, caring, and dear friends and neighbors, Alan and Patty Reandeau and family, Craig, Mark, and Danielle, and their families. Many happy times were spent together. Betty will also be missed by her loving friends, Bud and Dolores Harvey and daughters, Kimberly, Cynthia, Kelly, and Christine, and their families. Betty will be long remembered by all for her quick wit, sense of humor, and ready smile.

A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford.
