Elizabeth M. "Bettye" Ortolani, 95, of Manchester, affectionately known as "Mrs. O," widow of Albert Ortolani, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.

She was born in Manchester on Feb. 18, 1917, daughter of John and Kate (Howard) Adams, and was a lifelong Manchester resident. Bettye was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at the church nursery school for over thirty years. She was an avid Red Sox and UConn women's basketball fan, and enjoyed playing setback.
She is survived by her daughter, Ella Hube and her husband, Arthur, of Manchester; her daughter-in-law, Angela Wandzy and her husband, Ken, of Ellington; two grandchildren, Karel Ortolani and her fiancé, Justin Reed, of Ellington, and Todd Ortolani and his wife, Kristin, of Vernon; four great-grandchildren, Evan and Dylan Gargiulo, and Katelyn and Elisa Ortolani; her sister, Alice Smith of Manchester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, John A. Ortolani, her brother, George Adams, and two sisters, Katherine Bauer and Ruth Gallo.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin St., Manchester. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church Nursery School.
