Elizabeth "Liz" (Welchek) Oliver, 90, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in the comfort of her home with loved ones at her side. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to Ernest L. Oliver.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Westfield, Massachusetts, to the late Charles and Anna (Ellias) Welchek. She had resided in Enfield for the past 70 years and in Westfield before that, where she attended grammar and high schools, then continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and Elms College. In her 70 years of nursing she was employed with Dr. Figueora for over 15 years, Pedi-Care over 20 years, along with various hospitals until retiring in 2013. Liz was a member of the Red Hat Society, Boy Scouts of America, Somers Senior Center, and Asnuntuck Community College Foundation. She enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, and nursing.

Liz is survived by her children, Bruce L. Oliver of Enfield, David F. Oliver of Stafford, Paul E. Oliver of Enfield, and Cathy Garvey and husband, Kevin, of Stafford; her three grandchildren, Christopher Oliver, Matthew Wekerle and Suzette, and Christopher Garvey and wife, Rachel, and their children, Ian and Samantha; and great-grandson Robert Wekerle and Zach; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a son, Robert A. Oliver; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Charlie Pendleton; and a brother, Michael Welchek.

Liz's family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a service with Fr. John Golas officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Interment will then take place in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor/St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082.
